Sources and limitations

What the tools know, and what they cannot guarantee

Medical AI answers are only useful when their sources and limits are clear. These are the main source types and safety boundaries used across Dr. Vivek's AI.

Textbook-grounded tools

Ask Pediatrics, Ask Surgery, and Ask Internal Medicine retrieve relevant passages from local textbook indexes and generate answers from those retrieved passages. If retrieval misses the relevant passage, the answer may be incomplete.

Evidence synthesis

Ask Evidence uses PubMed retrieval and should present citations and limitations. Abstract-only evidence may miss important details from full text, guidelines, or local practice.

Drug information

Drug answers are educational and must be verified against current prescribing information, local formularies, renal/hepatic dosing guidance, pregnancy/lactation references, and patient-specific factors.

Safety limits

  • Do not use the site as the only source for emergency or high-risk decisions.
  • Do not upload identifiable patient details unless necessary and permitted.
  • Verify any surprising, unclear, or high-stakes answer against primary sources.
