# Miconazole Vaginal Pessary
## Overview
Miconazole is a synthetic imidazole antifungal agent. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes.
## Primary Indications
Treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis (yeast infection).
## Adult Dosing
* **100 mg vaginal pessary:** Insert one pessary intravaginally at bedtime for 7 consecutive days.
* **200 mg vaginal pessary:** Insert one pessary intravaginally at bedtime for 3 consecutive days.
* **150 mg vaginal pessary:** Insert one pessary intravaginally at bedtime for 2 consecutive days (e.g., as a single dose for one day, or two doses over two days - *verify local protocol*). Some products are intended as a single dose insert.
## Pediatric Dosing
Data on the use of vaginal miconazole pessaries in pediatric patients is limited. ## Dose Adjustments
