# Fluids in Pediatrics
## Overview
Intravenous fluid therapy in pediatrics requires careful calculation based on maintenance needs and deficit replacement. ## Primary Indications

## Adult Dosing

## Pediatric Dosing

- **PALS Guideline:** If shock is present, do not rely on maintenance calculations; prioritize rapid bolus delivery.
- **Glucose:** Always consider the need for supplemental dextrose (e.g., D5W) in neonates and small infants to prevent hypoglycemia.
