# Clotrimazole Topical Solution
## Overview
Clotrimazole is a synthetic imidazole antifungal agent. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes.
## Primary Indications
* Tinea pedis (athlete's foot)
* Tinea cruris (jock itch)
* Tinea corporis (ringworm)
* Tinea versicolor
## Adult Dosing
Apply liberally to affected area(s) **twice daily** (morning and evening). Continue treatment for **2 to 4 weeks**, even if symptoms improve.
## Pediatric Dosing
Apply liberally to affected area(s) **twice daily** (morning and evening). Continue treatment for **2 to 4 weeks**, even if symptoms improve. Dosing is the same as adults.
## Dose Adjustments
No dose adjustments are necessary for renal or hepatic impairment as systemic absorption is minimal.
## Contraindications
* Hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or any component of the formulation.
## Adverse Effects
* Local irritation, stinging, burning, redness, itching, or peeling at the application site.
## Key Drug Interactions
No significant drug interactions have been reported with topical clotrimazole due to minimal systemic absorption.
## Monitoring
