# Clotrimazole 1% Otic Solution
## Overview
Clotrimazole is a synthetic imidazole antifungal agent. It works by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis, a vital component of fungal cell membranes.
## Primary Indications
* Fungal infections of the external ear canal (otomycosis).
## Adult Dosing
* Instill 2-3 drops into the affected ear(s) two to three times daily.
* Treatment duration is typically 2-4 weeks, or as directed by a healthcare professional.
## Pediatric Dosing
* Use in pediatric patients is not well-established and should be guided by a healthcare professional.
## Dose Adjustments
* No specific dose adjustments are typically required for renal or hepatic impairment.
## Contraindications
