# Clotrimazole Solution (Ear Drops/Topical)
## Overview
Clotrimazole is an imidazole antifungal agent that inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol, damaging the fungal cell wall membrane and leading to cell death. It is commonly used as a 1% solution for otomycosis.
## Primary Indications
* Otomycosis (fungal external otitis), typically caused by *Aspergillus* or *Candida* species.
## Adult Dosing
* **Otomycosis:** Instill 2 to 4 drops into the affected ear(s) 2 to 3 times daily. Duration is typically 7 to 14 days.

## Pediatric Dosing
* **Safety/Efficacy:** Generally considered safe for children ≥3 years, though use in younger children is common based on clinical judgment.

* **Administration:** Instruct patients to warm the bottle in their hands for 1–2 minutes before use to minimize dizziness caused by instilling cold liquid into the ear. Patients should remain with the head tilted for 60 seconds after instillation to allow the medication to coat the canal.
* **Formulation:** Ensure the product is labeled for otic use.
