# Amorolfine Nail Lacquer ## Overview Amorolfine nail lacquer is a topical antifungal agent used for the treatment of fungal nail infections (onychomycosis). It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a crucial component of fungal cell membranes. ## Primary Indications Treatment of mild to moderate fungal nail infections (onychomycosis) of the fingernails and toenails, affecting no more than two-thirds of the nail plate and involving no more than two nails. ## Adult Dosing Apply to the affected nail(s) once or twice weekly. 1. File the affected nail surface thoroughly. 2. Clean and dry the nail surface. 3. Dip the applicator into the lacquer and stir to collect the lacquer. 4. Apply a thin, even layer to the entire nail surface. 5. Allow to dry completely before applying other products or dressing. 6. Remove applicator and seal the bottle tightly. 7. Dispose of the applicator after treatment is complete. The duration of treatment is typically 3 to 6 months for fingernails and 6 to 12 months for toenails, or until the infection has cleared and healthy nail has regrown. ## Pediatric Dosing Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been established. Use is not recommended. ## Dose Adjustments No dose adjustments are necessary for renal or hepatic impairment due to minimal systemic absorption. ## Contraindications Hypersensitivity to amorolfine or any of the excipients. ## Adverse Effects Local application site reactions are most common, including nail discoloration, nail deformation, nail peeling, application site pain, burning sensation, itching, redness, and allergic contact dermatitis.
